Soon after a fire destroyed the original Inwood Forest clubhouse in northwest Houston, the club’s owner, Smith Development Company, engaged Metzger Construction Company to construct a new clubhouse facility.
The scope of work included a clubhouse, pro shop, halfway house, snack bar and cabana, as well as site work, parking lot and interior finishes.
The owner asked the design team to give the family-oriented club the feel of a contemporary lodge. Designers set the tone with low ceiling pitch, pine trusses, tumble-etched stones in the fireplace wall, mahogany window frames and doors, and detailed pilasters. Trellised walkways connect the buildings. The limestone of the exterior columns and pilasters is repeated inside with a four-inch stone chair rail |
