Kirksey-Metzger team awarded the Golden Bucket at the 2015 AIA Sandcastle Competition in Galveston!June 3, 2015
Kirksey Architecture and Metzger Construction teamed up for the 2015 AIA Sandcastle Competition in Galveston, Texas this year and the team was awarded the top prize: the Golden Bucket for the best sandcastle! The theme was Jurassic Seuss and the carvings included several Dr. Seuss characters getting tangled up with dinosaurs. The event was held in Galveston Texas on Saturday May 30, with more than 60 teams participating. Kirksey Architecture and Metzger Construction have teamed up for more than 15 years and have been awarded several honorable mentions plus sign and t-shirt awards. However, this is the first Golden Bucket for the team.
Caterpillar/Solar Turbines New Office and D’Agostino Office Building ConstructionMarch 30, 2015
Metzger Construction was awarded the new interior buildout for the Caterpillar/Solar Turbines headquarters in Houston. The office interior was designed by Inventure Design Group of Houston and includes a very modern design with the latest DIRTT demountable wall partitions and a sleek furniture package by Agile Ofis. The space will include a full range of Wi-Fi and IT capabilities with the latest in security features. The two and half floors of office space are scheduled to be completed in May 2015. The completion of the Caterpillar/Solar Turbines interior will coincide with the completion of the 4 story Sam Houston Office building for the D’Agostino Group.
Men’s Wearhouse ExpansionMarch 20, 2015
Over the last 15 years Metzger Construction has worked for the Houston based Men’s Wearhouse team to construct over one million sf of office and warehouse facility spaces. In the summer of 2015 Metzger will start a new 60ksf office and warehouse space in the SW Houston area for the Men’s Wearhouse. The project is being designed by Tom Marrow of Tomorrow Planning.

OMB recently awarded their new Houston facility area expansion to Metzger Construction. The new warehouse and distribution facility will include a 60,000 sf tilt wall office building and warehouse storage area. The project is scheduled to start in April 2015.
Apache Industrial Services Phase 1 Completed, New Office to Start SoonMarch 1, 2015
In the Fall of 2014 Metzger Construction completed the new industrial warehouse facility for Apache Industrial in northeast Houston. Apache has recently awarded the construction of their office building in the same area to Metzger. Universal Weather and Aviation New Clear Lake HeadquartersJanuary 30, 2015
Metzger Construction is scheduled to complete the six story office buildout for Universal Weather and Aviation in March 2015. The Harry Gendel designed office space is being constructed in an existing six story office building formerly home of various NASA related aerospace companies from the Clear Lake area. The roughly 120,000 sf of office space will be completed in March 2015 with a phased move in and personnel transfer immediately following. The six story facility will be the Houston based headquarters for the UWA team.
New Houston Astros Diamond ClubMay 23, 2013
Metzger Construction recently completed the Houston Astros Diamond Club at Minute Maid Park. The 17,000 sf premium dining area for Astros Diamond Club members was completed at the end of March 2013, just in time for the Houston Astros inaugural American League season. Designed by Kirksey Architects, the space includes a 40’ cocktail bar with LED backlit shelves and drink stands, a full gas burning pizza oven and pizza bar, lounge areas with LCD video screens, a four station food serving area, a beverage service room and a private dining room just off the main dining area. The restrooms were completely rebuilt and the existing kitchen was overhauled with new finishes and updated mechanical and electrical equipment. All the furniture throughout the space was custom designed and built with finishes chosen by the Astros management team and Kirksey Architects. The space highlight is a 30’ wide, 8’ tall video screen above the main dining area that shows real time HD field video of the ongoing baseball game. The new Astros Diamond Club is considered by many to be the premium Diamond Club facility throughout Major League Baseball.
